Guru Besar Tsinghua University Stella Christie menjadi salah satu dari 54 calon wakil menteri dalam kabinet pimpinan presiden & wakil presiden terpilih periode 2024-2029, Prabowo Subianto & Gibran Rakabuming Raka, yang mengikuti pembekalan di Padepokan Garuda Yaksa, Desa Bojong Koneng, Kecamatan Babakan Madang, Kabupaten Bogor, Provinsi Jawa Barat, Kamis (17/10/2024).
Berbicara kepada wartawan setelah acara, Stella mengungkapkan alasan Prabowo mengajaknya bergabung ke dalam kabinet.
“Apa yang disampaikan Pak Prabowo, beliau minta bahwa kami setiap insan dari bangsa ini harus memberi kembali kepada bangsa dan negara. Saya memang waktu itu saya cerita saya bekerja dan kuliah di luar negeri, tetapi saya adalah hasil dari pendidikan negara ini,” ujar Stella.
“Saya besar di sini, saya dari TK sampai SMA kelas 1 bersekolah di Jakarta dan bukan di international school. Saya mendapat beasiswa ke Harvard, itu adalah beasiswa, jadi hasil pendidikan dari negara ini. Jadi sudah sepantasnya saya menyumbangkan apa yang saya punya,” lanjutnya.
Namun demikian, Stella belum mau memaparkan posisi yang akan ditempatinya kelak. Dia meminta awak media bersabar menunggu pengumuman oleh Prabowo.
Lebih lanjut, Stella berjanji akan belajar untuk memetakan masalah di tanah air. Mengingat dirinya sudah lama di luar negeri.
“Sebagai ilmuwan kita harus memetakan masalahnya, mengerti pemasalahannya, baru kita bisa secara bijaksana berdasarkan data membuat kebijakan-kebijakan yang berdasarkan data yang sungguh-sungguh mempunyai hasil. Hasil itu perlu berdasarkan keadaannya sekarang. Jadi saya juga perlu sekali mempelajari keadaan di negara sekarang,” kata Stella.
